A welcome drinks party is the perfect way to kick off your celebrations and show your guests they are valued plus of course a great way to meet & greet everyone before the real festivities start!

Often with destination weddings they tend to be three days starting with a welcome drinks, your actual wedding day and then perhaps an informal beach or pool party usually accompanied with hangover food!

As more and more businesses and elite brands invest in Marbella we have seen a steady increase of some beautiful locations for you to enjoy during your celebrations here with your family & friends.

In this blog post we have selected some cool venues for a pre wedding welcome drink in Marbella from rooftop bars to beach locations.

We do advise checking beforehand if venues can accommodate the amount of guests you are expecting particularly during the summer season. You can also enquire if they do welcome drinks packages. Many venues will offer this or put together a bespoke package for you depending on how many hours, types of drinks and if you are hosting a stand up cocktail style or a sit down welcome rehearsal dinner.

If you wish to have a smaller intimate welcome dinner with just family and your bridal party, you can invite your other guests along for a couple of hours to join you before your meal, leaving them free to wander around the town, find their own restaurant or return to their accommodation. Some guests maybe travel weary so do keep this event flexible!

If you are hiring a photographer for your wedding day many of them will be delighted to document your welcome drinks and post wedding day too for a few hours and will add this to their photography coverage for you.

Rooftop Bars in Marbella

Rooftop bars are definitely trending and Marbella has recently welcomed some new additions.

Escondido Rooftop Bar at The Kimpton, Los Monteros Hotel

One of Marbella’s most exciting new venues, Escondido is a showstopping rooftop bar at the newly refurbished Kimpton Los Monteros hotel.

Launched just in time for the 2025 summer season, this sleek and stylish space brings a whole new level of luxury to the east side of Marbella. Perched above the treetops with panoramic views of the Mediterranean, Escondido lives up to its name “hidden” offering a tucked away rooftop escape that feels both exclusive and effortlessly cool.

With its contemporary design Escondido is ideal for sunset welcome drinks or a pre-wedding gathering. Guests can sip signature cocktails while watching the sunset, enjoy live music and relax into the start of a magical weekend.

The rooftop offers both open air lounge areas and partially shaded seating, making it a perfect location to host your welcome party.

Located just a short drive from Marbella’s historic centre and popular wedding venues, Escondido is a standout choice for couples seeking a modern, high end setting that balances laid back luxury with unforgettable views.

The recently opened Hotel Obal is located in the heart of Marbella on the Ricardo Soriano. Step out and you are immediately on the bustling streets full of tapas bars, restaurants and shops, a 5 minute walk down to the beach or to the famous Orange Square.

Yet on top of this hotel is now a rooftop pool, terrace and the 360 Blue rooftop bar. It feels like a secret hideaway above the buzz of the centre of Marbella

With breathtaking 360-degree views, hence the name, you overlook the Mediterranean, the charming terracotta rooftops of the old town, and the Sierra Blanca mountains.

Another recently refurbished hotel is the El Fuerte in Marbella. One of Marbella’s most iconic hotels with a fascinating history having been originally built near The Fort of San Luis in 1554 to protect the coast from pirates.

The building became a flour factory, then a boarding house before becoming a hotel in 1957 with 33 rooms and the first lift on the Costa Del Sol! It was one of the first hotels in Marbella receiving famous guests such as Walt Disney and Diana Dors.

The El Fuerte is in fabulous location set in gardens, shaded with mature trees and after a recent refurb opened its doors again in 2023 complete with their stunning Rooftop Bar. They are open all day and offer a wide range of drinks and food, cocktails are 17 euros each and drinks start from 5 euros.

Many rooftop bars in Marbella have seasonal hours and special events (live DJs, jazz nights, etc). We always recommend checking ahead or booking a table or space especially in summer.
