How Much do Destination Indian Weddings Cost?

We asked Dyana this question as her weddings often span three days of celebrations filled with various ceremonies. The Sangeet and Mehendi and the main wedding day followed by the post-wedding reception.

Here is Dyana's Advice when Budgeting for a Destination Indian wedding.

Indian weddings are known for their grandeur, traditions, and multi-day celebrations.

When planning an Indian wedding in a European destination such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, or the UK, it’s essential to set a realistic budget that covers all aspects of your celebrations. For example a two-day celebration with approximately 150 to 170 guests, the minimum budget typically falls between €120,000 and €150,000. Costs can vary significantly based on personal preferences, location, and the level of luxury desired.

Some of our most popular locations, in Europe, are Spain mainly in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville and Marbella. Portugal is becoming a popular destination as well as Malta, Malta of course being a predominantly English speaking country.

The choice of venue plays a crucial role in setting the tone and cost of the wedding. Popular destinations like Marbella in Spain, Tuscany in Italy, or the Algarve in Portugal offer breathtaking venues, from beachfront resorts to historic palaces. Depending on exclusivity, rental fees for two days can range from €20,000 to €50,000 or more.

Indian Wedding Catering in Europe

Indian weddings require specialized catering to accommodate traditional dishes such as biryanis, curries, and live food stations. Some European destinations are not familiar with Indian cuisine which often means hiring in Indian caterers, increasing costs. Expect to allocate around €150 to €250 per guest, leading to a total catering budget of about €40,000.

Indian Wedding Decor and Florals

From stunning mandaps to extravagant floral installations, Indian wedding decor is a significant expense. Depending on the level of detail and floral choices, decor costs can range between €30,000 and €60,000 depending on your location. Some countries are more geared up for Indian wedding decoration than others, for example if you are getting married in London it is far easier to source decorations than say Portugal.

With our expertise we can advise you on the most practical locations depending on how much you wish to spend before you decide on your choice of venue.

Indian Wedding Entertainment

A traditional Indian wedding is incomplete without plenty of entertainment. Costs for DJs, dhol drummers, live bands, Bollywood dancers, and international artists vary, but a reasonable estimate falls between €15,000 and €30,000. Many specialist Indian entertainers do have to be flown in to our destinations so this is a cost you need to factor into your wedding budget.

Photography & Videography

Capturing the celebrations should be one of your priorities when budgeting for your wedding and requires professional photography and videography services. Hiring a professional team for two days can cost anywhere from €10,000 to €20,000 or more depending on location and how many hours they will be working, not just at the event but the post production time.

Wedding Outfits & Jewellery

Both the bride and groom, along with close family members, require multiple outfits for different ceremonies. Bridal lehengas and jewellery alone can range from €10,000 to €50,000, depending on designer selections.

You must also factor in the cost for hair and makeup, often during a two day event this means you need a hair and make up team on site for two days. Again budgets vary but you would need to allocate at least 3000 euros for your wedding.

Logistics & Accommodation

Guest accommodations, airport transfers, and transportation for multiple events add another layer of expense. Luxury accommodations for guests can cost between €30,000 and €60,000, depending on the location and type of resort or hotel selected.

Total Estimated Budget for a European Indian Wedding

For a high-end yet realistic Indian wedding in a European destination, the total budget for a two-day celebration falls within the range of €120,000 to €150,000. However, for couples seeking more extravagant experiences, incorporating additional entertainment, bespoke decor, and premium venues, budgets can easily exceed €200,000. Location is also important when planning your budget.
